When Sookie's brother Jason's eyes start to change, she knows he's about to turn into a were-panther for the first time. But her concern becomes cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population-and Jason's new panther brethren suspect he may be the shooter. Now, Sookie has until the next full moon to find out who's behind the attacks, unless the killer decides to find her first.

In this book you will meet a couple of new characters in both the were - panthers and in the werewolf community. Also you do meet a new vampire Charles who works for Eric, he is a pirate! I found him to be the funniest thing about this book. So to sum up this book for you (don't worry no spoilers) it starts off with Jason becoming a were - panther. However there is a shooter going around shooting all the two natureds (ie. shifters, were - panthers) and the were - panther society believes it is Jason because they think he is bitter for being bitten. However Sookie wants to prove that it is not him and ends up getting in all sorts of trouble because she becomes the shooters next target. Also while this is all going on Alcide father wants to become the packs new leader however Patrick another werewolf want to be the leader as well, and is spreading horrible rumors about Jackson (Alcide father). So they need Sookies help in the tournament for pack leader (which is basically the Olympics for werewolf's) to see if Patrick is going to sabotage the match's.

When I started this book I was very excited because they were adding a new mythical creatures (were-panther and a Tiger). However I was less than thrilled as going through the book to find that vampires were very scarce in this book. Eric being my favorite character was maybe in one or two chapters total, which was very sad. However I did like the interesting story line on the were - panthers and also the way the werewolf's chose their new pack leader. It is very gruesome and I think the most interesting part of the book. In comparison to the other four books this was my least favorite book, not because there were barely any vampires in it but also because there was not enough action in this book.

I did find the werewolf's and were - panthers very interesting however I though that they could have made more action scenes in the book. The middle of the book had very little going on in it and I think that is were I got bored. However it was interesting, i am not going to say it was a bad book, just not my favorite out of this series. I hope in the next book Eric is in it more (yes I think I am biased lol) he is just really funny in the previous books.

  1. I loves this series *.*

What I like most is that there is so much going on. Like, life keeps going on everywhere no matter what happens with Sookie.

  2. I've read this whole series and love it. But I'd agree that this is one of my least favorites. Not enough Eric! So my favorite is the one where Eric loses his memory. Have you read that one yet. Get reading and get to that one if you haven't. It's awesome!

  4. Rae, I was disappointed Eric wasn't around so much in this book too. I still loved this. It sucks that right when you like Alcide he has to go and be retarded. That guy has no self-control! Just hang on. You'll see more of Quinn... you'll probably like him. And you'll see more Eric soon enough : )
